Training Log: May 30-31, 2009

Training today and yesterday included:
- Bike Riding
- Kong Vaults
- 1" wall walk
- Cement Grabs
- Cat Walk
- Lazy Vault

Biking Riding:
Again, leg conditioning therapy. I can now do a decent run without snapping anything out of place, still no sprinting. I figure if I give it another week it'll be okay.

Kong Vaults:
Well, I went to the park today to try it over the picnic table, and I EFFING DID IT. AND THEN I DID IT SOME MORE. HELL YEAH! As it happens, I guess all I really needed was for some people to be there... In this case, pride appears to be a source of confidence? Anyway, I never plan on botching it again. I'm going to force myself to keep clearing the table, and practice the technique doing it that way instead of landing on top of it. I overcame my biggest Parkour fear yet :D

1" Wall Walk:
Again, easy as always. A little faster this time.

Cement Grabs:
For some reason this scares me. There's very little pain involved...it just rips up my hands a bit. It's not terribly uncomfortable. I keep doing it just fine, I've got it down, but I'm apprehensive every time I do. Maybe as my hands get more calloused the fear of tearing will go away.

Cat Walk:
The cat walk is where you cross a thin bar on all fours. Its purpose is to train your entire body to balance in tandem. Doing this gets easier each day, I started on the bus gates, they're about 4" wide. I can currently cross those with ease. 2" poles are what I'm working on now, they're proving more difficult. There's no fear to overcome here, just balance practice.

Lazy Vault:
Tried it yesterday for the first time over a bike rack, but it appears to be a pretty powerful vault. I got a lot more air than needed. Tried it once over a pretty high wall today. I made it, but I think I need to move to something lower to get the technique down first. It might also help if there wasn't a small hill right on the other side of the wall too.
